A transparent blog

about grief, God, and life

by Jazmin Elaine

LIFE AFTER MOM

My name is Jazmin Elaine. My mother is Shyril Glenn, and I am her youngest daughter. I started writing to cope with my mother’s cancer diagnosis in 2018, which led me to start this blog after losing her on January 6, 2020, to the terrible disease. As a part of my healing, I wanted to share my experiences with grief. While there is no “proper” way to grieve, I have never personally watched someone openly go through it. I want my readers to know that it is OK not to be OK, and while you may feel like you’re in this alone, God will send people along your journey who will help you through. It may seem dark for a while, but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

I look forward to building a community where we can lean on one another during these challenging times. I named this blog “Shyril’s Girl” to honor my mother, but unfortunately, during my journey, I lost my older sister, Krystal Glenn, on September 6, 2021, and recently lost my twin sister, Kendra Page, on March 27, 2024. So, I dedicate this blog to my three guardian angels watching over me.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Phillippians 4:6-7
